On the morning of April 9, 2026, Cheng Liwei, Party Secretary and President of the China Mining Association (CMA), led a delegation to visit Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco), holding talks with Duan Xiangdong, Party Secretary and Chairman of Chinalco.
President Cheng Liwei expressed gratitude to Chinalco for its longstanding strong support to the CMA's work. He highlighted the CMA's notable achievements over the past year, including being awarded the title of National Outstanding Primary-Level Party Organization by the Central Social Work Department and the National Advanced Social Organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, as well as being designated as a key cultivation unit by the Central Social Work Department. President Cheng briefed the delegation on the positive progress made at last year's China Mining Conference and Exhibition in expanding market-oriented trading components, and outlined the direction for this year's Conference to further enhance its international profile, emphasize trade and economic themes, and advance the development of a mining rights market. He expressed hope that Chinalco would continue to leverage its leading role as a major central state-owned mining enterprise, maintaining its strong support for the CMA and the China Mining Conference and Exhibition, and jointly promoting the high-quality development of China's mining industry.
Chairman Duan Xiangdong stated that Chinalco, as a Vice Chair level member of the CMA, would firmly fulfill its responsibilities and fully support the Conference this year. He briefed the delegation on the Group's development strategy centered on mining-centered enterprise development in recent years, noting positive progress in the layout of mineral resources both domestically and internationally, the construction of a full industrial chain for non-ferrous metals, and the comprehensive recovery and utilization of rare and scattered metals, thereby continuously contributing to safeguarding national mineral resource security. In light of the current international mining landscape, he offered constructive suggestions on responding to changes in the global mining landscape, improving domestic mining rights market mechanisms, and strengthening unified management of mineral resources.
Che Changbo, Secretary-General of the CMA, Dong Jianxiong, Deputy General Manager of Chinalco, and relevant department heads from both organizations attended the meeting.
