On the afternoon of April 8, 2026, Cheng Liwei, Party Secretary and President of the China Mining Association (CMA), led a delegation to visit China Minmetals Corporation, holding talks with Chen Dexin, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the global mining development landscape, safeguarding national mineral resource security, scientific and technological innovation in the mining sector with full value chain development, high-quality corporate development, and cooperation on the 2026 (28th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition.
President Cheng Liwei first expressed heartfelt gratitude to China Minmetals, a Vice Chair level member of the CMA, for its longstanding strong support to the association's work and to the China Mining Conference and Exhibition. He noted that China Minmetals, as a nationally significant resource-based enterprise, has played a pivotal role in safeguarding the security of the country's metallic mineral resources and serving the national strategy, fully demonstrating the mission and responsibility of a central state-owned enterprise. President Cheng sincerely invited China Minmetals to participate in the 2026 (28th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for September 10–12 in Tianjin. He highlighted several key features of this year's Conference: the upgraded Ministers' Forum on International Mining Cooperation, designed to further enhance the event's international profile and influence; a strengthened emphasis on trade and economic themes, with efforts to build the Conference into a grand marketplace for global mining projects, exploring standardized and transparent mechanisms for mining rights transfers and facilitating mining rights transactions and project matchmaking; and an expanded exhibition area for mining machinery and equipment to better serve the needs of buyers both domestically and internationally. President Cheng also noted that the CMA has put forward the core mining cultural values of "Committed to the Nation, Building the Future" and the mission of "wholeheartedly serving its members." The CMA will continue to leverage its role as a bridge and link, actively reflecting the concerns of enterprises and working to address key challenges in industry development.
Chairman Chen Dexin welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the work China Minmetals has undertaken over the past two years in pursuit of its mineral resource strategy. He stated that China Minmetals has always regarded safeguarding the supply and security of the country's metallic mineral resources as its core mission, transforming resources into materials, materials into products, and products into industries through mineral resource development, while comprehensively advancing the strategy of refocusing on core businesses, realigning industries, and consolidating resources. The Group has achieved a series of breakthroughs in resource acquisition, scientific and technological innovation, and full value chain development. Chairman Chen stated that China Minmetals will, as always, fully support all of the CMA's initiatives and actively participate in the 2026 (28th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition, contributing to the building of a strong nation.
Che Changbo, Secretary-General of the CMA, Wang Xingquan, Deputy General Manager of China Minmetals, and relevant department heads from both organizations attended the meeting.
